What a fantastic week of Christmas performances we’ve enjoyed at Ravenswood Primary School. A huge thank you to all the parents, grandparents, friends, and family members who came along to watch the children shine.

Our Nursery children shared a delightful Christmas story, while Reception had everyone laughing with their performance of The Grumpy Snowman. Year 1 were graceful and heartfelt in Whoopsie Daisy Angel, and Year 2 impressed us all with their singing, dancing, and percussion skills in Hey Ewe.

Our Key Stage 2 children performed brilliantly on the school steps alongside the wonderful school band, and the choir did an outstanding job representing us at the Grainger Market in the city centre.

Thank you once again for your support, for attending the performances, and to all the staff who helped the children put on such fantastic shows.

New intervention PODs

We’ve had three new soundproof learning intervention pods set up in the ‘old library’ area. These pods now help to provide really useful calming learning environments for children working in smaller groups or working on interventions.

Christmas Parties

The children have definitely earned their Christmas parties next week. As previously mentioned, they are at the following times:

To avoid anyone misplacing their party clothes or losing party time getting changed, we’re asking that children come to school already dressed in their party outfits on their party day. Please remember that they will still be going outside for playtime and lunchtime, so make sure they have a warm coat and suitable footwear.

We’ll also be having a small party tea after the games. On the day, we would be grateful if you could send in a covered paper plate with a small selection of snacks for your child. They won’t need much, as they will have already had lunch. Please label the plate with your child’s name to avoid any mix-ups. Please note we don’t have fridge space for plates to be stored. Please also remember that we are a nut-free school.

Christmas Dinner/Jumper Day

Is on Wednesday - for reception and year 3 children who have their party on this day, they are welcome to bring a Christmas Jumper over their party clothes.

Year 6 Christmas Parade

On Thursday next week, we’re looking forward to our Year 6 Christmas Parade where children are invited to dress up in Christmas themed costumes and parade around Ravenswood for all the children to enjoy.

FOR Winter Fair

Today, after school, we have our school winter fair. We put out the following information on last week’s newsletter but have included it in case anyone missed anything…

Entry: £1 per adult (cash only)

After school on Friday, children will leave as usual. Families can then return and enter the Winter Fair via either the car park entrance or the main school entrance from around 3:20 pm.
Please note: We need time to safely reunite all children with their families before opening the fair, so there may be a short wait. Thank you for your patience! While you wait, a luxury hot chocolate and coffee van will be available at the car park entrance.

Important: This is a cash-only event. We’ll have change available, but if you can bring small notes and coins, it would be greatly appreciated.

What’s Happening at the Fair?

  • Meet Father Christmas
  • Visit the Elves’ Workshop
  • Browse the Toy Stall (donations still welcome)
  • Enjoy lots of other fun activities!

Raffle Tickets

On Friday morning, the Friends of Ravenswood will be selling raffle tickets (£1 per strip) on the school playground near the main gates.

Prizes include:

  • A signed England Rugby shirt
  • Family ticket for The Wizard of Oz at The People’s Theatre
  • Local restaurant vouchers
  • Learn to Skate voucher for Whitley Bay Ice Rink
  • Tumble Gymnastics sessions
  • A £250 voucher from The Will Guys
  • …and many more!

The raffle will be drawn at 4:30 pm in the Key Stage 2 hall (the one with the stage). If you’re not present, don’t worry—we’ll record winners and contact you next week. Please make sure your full name and class number are on your ticket so you don’t miss out!

Thank you for your support! Funds raised help us provide exciting additions to the school—like the new pirate ship playground for the children.
