How the impact of the fund on educational attainment will be assessed?
Pupils have been assessed and identified as needing to catch up lost ground compared to typical expectations in their specific year group. The main issues are in the following subjects:
Phonetic knowledge in Years 1, 2 and 3
Spelling skills across the school
Reading comprehension in Years 4, 5 and 6
Handwriting/presentation skills across the school
Maths computation and times table knowledge across the school
There are also “softer” gaps in resilience and learning behaviours, which have been forgotten during lockdown.
Pupils will be assessed periodically to check that they are making up lost ground.
Assessment will be by using teacher judgement against the expectations of the National Curriculum. These are monitored using in-school progress trackers and discussed at Pupil Progress Meetings. We have also introduced some half term testing in Autumn 1 to give us triangulation of the gaps across the school against teacher assessment and book scrutiny/pupil voice.
