Book Look
It was lovely to welcome so many families into school on Tuesday and Thursday this week for our Book Look sessions. Thank you to everyone who came along to celebrate your children's learning and look through their work ahead of Parents' Evening next week.
Parents' Evening & Family Support
A reminder that all families should enter through the main school entrance. The main doors will open at 3:25pm ready for appointments, which begin at 3:30pm.
Locations for appointments are:
- Nursery to Class 9: KS1 Hall
- Classes 10 to 21: KS2 Hall
Alongside Parents' Evening appointments, we'll have a range of support available for families.
SEMH Team Drop-In
Representatives from the Local Authority's Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Team will be based in the dining hall and available for informal chats with families.
"Hello! We are the SEMH Team from the Local Authority. Our role is to support schools in helping children develop coping skills, resilience and a sense of connection to themselves, others and the natural world. We are looking forward to attending the upcoming Parents' Evening and will have resources available to support morning transitions into school and regulation activities."

Free School Uniform
The Friends of Ravenswood will also be offering a selection of free school uniform items in the school hall. Families are welcome to browse and take anything they can make use of.
Newcastle Family Partners
We are delighted to welcome Joanne Rutherford, an ambassador for Newcastle Family Partners, who will be available during both Parents' Evening sessions. No appointment is needed and Joanne will be happy to speak with any family who feels they may benefit from a little extra support or advice.
Ravenswood's Resident Bear Grylls!

A huge thank you to Miss Williams' mum, who has been generously volunteering her time both during and after school to support our Reception children with Forest Fridays.
From inventing ingenious popcorn-cooking devices to learning weaving techniques and helping prepare activities, she has brought plenty of enthusiasm, creativity and adventure to our outdoor learning sessions. We're incredibly grateful for her support.
Friends of Ravenswood Events

Zones of Regulation
At Ravenswood, we use Zones of Regulation to help children recognise their feelings, understand that all emotions are okay, and learn strategies to manage them. This helps children feel more settled, confident and ready to learn.
The poster below introduces the different zones and gives examples of some of the approaches we use in school to support emotional regulation. We have also created a second poster with ideas that families can try at home. Using the same language and strategies at home and at school can help children better understand their emotions,
