Friends of Ravenswood Discos

Thank you very much to the Friends of Ravenswood and all of the helpers who put on three great discos for children this week. The children danced the night away in style with glow sticks, especially loving KPOP Demon Hunter songs and screaming 6/7!  This will have helped to raise a lot of money for the school.

Odd Sock Day

On Monday we’ll be celebrating odd socks day - an annual event that marks the start of Anti-Bullying Week, held to celebrate what makes people unique and to raise awareness of bullying.

To participate, people wear odd socks to school, work, or home to show that it's okay to be different. We’ve led assemblies this week for the children on Anti-bullying.

Ravenswood Maths Day

On Wednesday next week (12th Nov) we’ll be celebrating a maths day. It’s something we’ve not done before but we’re hoping to have a day, similar to World Book Day and do lots of different and fun activities linked to maths.

We’d also like to invite parents into classrooms to do a maths linked activity.

For children in:

Key Stage 2 – Parents are invited from 9 – 9:30am (Please queue up at outside the main office after dropping the children off.  This will allow us to register them and take meal orders before parents come in).

KS1 & Reception – Parents welcome to join from 14:40pm – home time (Please queue at the main office)

Book Fair

A quick reminder that we are holding a Scholastic book fair in school between Wednesday 14th and Monday 17th November. We would love it if you were able to support us as you have in the past. The school receives a percentage of the total taken, which we then get to spend on new books for classrooms and the library.

This term is always an exciting one, packed with lots of special events and activities for the children. While there’s plenty to look forward to, we also know it can be a busy time with many changes to routine which can be challenging for some children.  As a school, we will do our best to stay organised and inclusive, giving parents as much notice as possible through the newsletter and school app.  Our aim is to keep the term enjoyable and full of fun while doing our best to ensure all children feel supported and included.

Dates for the diary:

Monday 17th November – 9am – 10am

Fussy eating workshop

Children & Families Newcastle East are looking to put on a parent support session at Ravenswood Primary on Monday 17th November at 9 – 10am – all are welcome:

“Fed up with stressful mealtimes? We're here to help.

As parents we want our children to eat well - and to enjoy mealtimes together. Come along and get support and new ideas for:

  • how to encourage your child to try new foods - and begin to enjoy them!
  • child-friendly foods that provide what they need to grow and be healthy
  • happier family mealtimes”

If you would like to attend, please complete the form in the School app.
