Visitors
Recently we’ve had so many visitors to Ravenswood. We’ve had a visit from our School Improvement Partner, visits from lots of potential student teachers, visits from prospective reception parents and a special visit from Mr Maddison who had a tour with our newly appointed ‘Vision Ambassadors’ what’s been so lovely is that all of our visitors have commented on what a lovely school Ravenswood is and how happy, polite and well behaved the children are (unfortunately I can’t say the same for our pesky chickens who despite a new ‘bridge’ from mr Kennedy are still doing their best Shawshank/the great escape impressions!)

Book Look and Parents Evenings
As part of our process of helping parents come to see how well your children are doing ahead of parent evenings, next week we have book looks for families of children in year 1 to year 6:
Tuesday 29th Sept and Thursday 1st Oct– Book Look – classrooms for children in Year 1 to Year 6 will be open to parents for 30 minutes after school to have an opportunity to look through their children’s books ahead of parents evening (the following week).
Children will leave school as usual and then any parents wanting to come with their child to look at books should head to the main entrance for KS1 or the car park entrance for KS2. A bell will ring to signal the end of the sessions.
Tuesday 6th October and Wednesday 7th October – Parents Evening
Parents' Evening appointments are available for all families. Booking invitations have already been sent via the school app. If you have not received yours, please contact the school office.
Family Partner Support
We are also pleased to welcome Joanne Rutherford, an ambassador for Newcastle Family Partners, who will be available during both Parents' Evening sessions.
A Newcastle Family Partner acts as a familiar point of contact for children, young people and families, helping them access local support services and community opportunities. Family Partners work closely with schools, Children and Families Newcastle hubs, health services and community groups, providing practical support and guidance.
Using a strengths-based and restorative approach, Family Partners can:
- Offer one-to-one support for parents and carers
- Help families set personal goals
- Work alongside families to create an "Our Family Plan"
- Support confidence-building and parenting skills
- Signpost adult learning and volunteering opportunities
- Connect families with appropriate local services
Joanne will be based in the lunch hall on both evenings. No appointment is necessary, and she would be delighted to speak with any family who feels they may benefit from additional support.
Uniform Swap Shop
The Friends of Ravenswood Uniform Swap Shop will also be available during both Parents' Evenings.
Families are welcome to browse a range of good-quality, pre-loved uniform items. Whether you need a spare jumper, a larger size, or simply want to stock up, please feel free to take whatever you need, completely free of charge.
Friends of Ravenswood
We’re so lucky to have the ‘Friends of Ravenswood’ (FOR) – parents and guardians who give up their time to raise funds for school and put on lovely events. This week the FOR funded colourful benches which have improved our ‘quiet area’ for children who enjoy a quieter playtime:

The FOR are putting on further events this term and also have an annual general meeting. Further details are below:

This will be held via Microsoft Teams; if you would like to join, please email info@friendsofravesnwood.co.uk and we’ll send you the details.
