Week Beginning 18th May 2020
Week 7 of the school closure.
The staff team in school this week, alongside me and Mrs West has been
Nursery and Reception – Mrs Clark, Mrs Turnbull and Mrs English
Year 1 and Year 2 – Miss Skillen, Mrs Hair and Mrs Morton
Year 3 and Year 4 – Mrs Heron and Mrs Thompson
Year 5 and Year 6 – Ms Morpeth and Mrs Chandler
The children have been working very hard in class this week. The Nursery and Reception children have been looking at how things grow and all went home with cress heads. Year 1 and 2 have really enjoyed their set text “Claude in the City” and have been finding out about Kenya. Year 3 and 4 have done science with magnets and also been designing bridges over rivers and Year 5 and 6 have linked their geography and science to make real life volcanoes, which they shared with everyone on Friday.
Numbers of key families are steadily increasing as some parents are called back to work and it may be that we soon have to open additional classrooms for these groups. I have sent all families an update via email, but just to confirm, school will only be open for key families from 1st June. I hope to be sending you news about reopening certain year groups in the week after half term, but everything is still uncertain.
It is half term from this evening and so there are no home learning packs for next week. I’m not sure that we will notice much difference, but have a good “holiday” and please stay safe.
And finally, Eid Mubarak, Happy Eid, to all of our Muslim families. Have a great weekend. I know it won’t be as much fun without all of the usual visitors, but enjoy your family time together.
