Week Beginning 4th May 2020
Week 5 of the school closure.
First of all I have to apologise. Our very keen teachers planned a full week of work for this week and forgot about Friday being a Bank Holiday to celebrate Victory in Europe at the end of the Second World War. Please feel free to take that day off home learning or simply pretend you didn’t read this until Saturday!!
The staff team in school this week, alongside me and Mrs West is
Nursery and Reception – Mrs Gretton, Mrs MacDonald and Mr MacDermott
Year 1 and Year 2 – Mrs Puente de la Vega, and Mrs Daglish
Year 3 and Year 4 – Mrs Riley and Mrs Easton
Year 5 and Year 6 – Mr Shaikh
All of the children are having a history focus this week on VE Day and preparing for a celebration on Thursday. I know VE Day is Friday, but we are closing the school for the Bank Holiday and so celebrating with a mini street party one day early. The children have been making bunting, medals for our key workers and families, food and some rather delicious cocktails. These were part of a maths lesson on capacity, as you can see.
And here we all are on Thursday afternoon enjoying our "street party". I hope you have as much fum tomorrow. We had World War 2 music, home baked bread, home-made scones, red, white and blue cakes and lots of juice because it was so hot. There was bunting and flags and lots of smiling faces.
