Ravenswood Primary School

Ravenswood Primary School

Week beginning 11th March 2019

Thanks to some very helpful weather during the daytime, the STM team have made great progress on the new pitch again this week. Tons more stone arrived on Monday and Tuesday and the surface and the entrance paths were finished by Wednesday. The tarmac machines arrived on Wednesday afternoon and left on Friday having completed their work. We are therefore a full week ahead of schedule, which is fantastic. The next jobs are putting up the fence and putting down the mat, which the pitch carpet sits on. This is all going to start on Monday. Thanks again for your patience. It really does look like it will be worth it.

We completed the Pupil Progress Meetings on Monday and Tuesday, talking about all of the children in Nursery and Years 2, 5 and 6. These were really informative meetings, allowing the class teachers, Mrs Clougher, Miss Lowther and I to discuss the work that the children are doing and the progress that they are making.

Thanks to everyone who came along to Book Look this week. The children really loved sharing their books with you. If you couldn’t make it, I hope your child remembered to bring the books home this weekend and that you are enjoying looking at them. Can I please remind you that we need the books back in school on Monday? I know you wouldn’t want them to get away without writing next week!

Thanks to all of the Nursery parents who came to their parent meeting this week. I hope everyone else has their parent meeting time for next week. This will allow you to have a proper talk with the teacher and to get to hear about how they are doing in class. Mrs Clougher, Miss Lowther and I will be available on all of the nights, if you need to speak to any of us. It is a very busy week for our teachers and I want to thank them in advance for putting in all the time and effort that goes into preparing and doing these meetings.

Friday was a very busy day. The school looked fantastic with all the crazy hair and red clothes. I hope the children enjoyed the day and that the hair dye has come out without ruining your bathrooms. I spent the day at the East End Pool where we had a very successful swimming gala. The Year 3/4 Team came joint first overall and the Year 5/6 Team came second by just two points to our friends from Hotspur. There were loads of medals and a full report will soon be available on the Sports, Competitions and Festivals section of the website, which you can find under the Parents tab.
