Week beginning 14th October 2019
Thanks to everyone who came along to this week’s parent consultations. There was a fantastic turn out as usual. I hope you all found it useful and that you were able to share the comments with your children. If for any reason, you couldn’t make the meeting, then please contact the teacher either on the yard or by ringing the school office. I’m sure we can arrange either for a telephone update or a meeting before or after school next week.
Because of parent consultations, it has been a relatively quiet week in school. Year 4 had a great visit to the Victoria Tunnel in the Ouseburn, where they met a rich mine owner who explained all about the tunnel and got to speak to a 90 year old man who told them stories about his mum’s life in Victorian times.
The Reception classes have all visited Heaton Park this week looking for signs of autumn.
Our Year 1 and Year 2 runners were out on Wednesday afternoon at Hotspur School taking part in the first Ouseburn Learning Trust competition of this year. It was a cross country run and they all performed really well. I am delighted to tell you that we had three first places and that the Year 1 boys won their competition and Ravenswood were the overall winners. A full report is available on the Sport section under Parents. Well done to everyone who took part.
Next week is Reading Week with lots of fun activities planned around the theme of “Magic”. The library might be looking rather splendid as well! We also have a new competition for the children on Tuesday next week, when we host the Newcastle Year 3/4 Handball competition on our new pitch.
