Week beginning 16th December 2019
First of all, many thanks for all of your kind donations at our Christmas performances last week. You raised over £480 and, when we add to that the sales from the school newspaper, we have a grand total of £517 to go to our charity for this year, which is The Rainbow Trust.
It has been a lovely week at Ravenswood, as we wind down for Christmas at school and I’m sure you all wind up for Christmas at home.
It has been a week of parties, which have all gone very well, with super behaviour and very polite pupils. Father Christmas managed to fit us in to his very busy schedule at this time of year and he was very happy that the children could stay on his “nice” list.
We had School Christmas Dinner on Wednesday, which was lovely. Thanks to Angela and our kitchen team for all of their hard work across the year.
On Thursday we had a visit from local storyteller, Chris Bostock. He is touring with a show called “Starlight”, which he performed to Year 1 and Year 2. It was a truly magical show and captivated these young audiences.
Then on Friday, we had the staff pantomime. This is the third year that Miss Williams has got us all together to rehearse and perform. This year it was the turn of “Babes in the Wood”, a bit of a mash up between Robin Hood and Hansel and Gretel. It was great fun to do and lovely to see the different reactions of from the Reception and Key Stage 1 children compared to the Key Stage 2 children. It really feels like performing two different shows. Thanks to Miss Williams and to the cast, music team and set team. It is lovely to be part of this great staff team, who are more than willing to go above and beyond the call of duty for our children. See if you can spot the cunningly disguised teachers in the cast photo!
All that is left for me to do is to wish you all a happy holiday and all the very best for 2020. We return to school on Monday 6th January.
